OSCE Chair Lajčák welcomes new recommitment to ceasefire in eastern Ukraine and plans for urgently needed repairs to Stanystia Luhanska bridge; urges sides to honour and implement them
BRATISLAVA, 18 July 2019 - OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák welcomed the new recommitment to an unlimited ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, starting from 21 July at 00 hrs. 01 min. (Kyiv time), as agreed at the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group held in Minsk on 17 July.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák today (18 July 2019) gave an address at the second annual ministerial conference on religious freedom in Washington, where he arrived at the invitation of Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State. The identification of concrete steps to prevent persecution based on faith and to strengthen respect for religious belief is one of the new initiatives of the administration of US President Donald Trump. This has been the biggest ministerial event on this topic so far with more than a hundred delegations in attendance.

Ministers for European Affairs of the European Union member states met in Brussels at the General Affairs Council of the EU on Thursday (18 July 2019). The Slovak Republic was represented by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic František Ružička.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák gave a closing address yesterday (17 July 2019) in Washington as one of the keynote speakers at the conference entitled “The United States and Central Europe: Celebrating Europe Whole and Free, Building the Next Century Together” organized by the renowned think-tank Atlantic Council and GLOBSEC.
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák held talks in New York today (17 July 2019) with María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, the current President of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, as well as Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, the President-elect of the upcoming 74th session and two other former Presidents – Joseph Deiss and Peter Thomson (of the 65th and 71st sessions respectively).
